Eligibility and Application

Applications for our 2026 Miss Seattle, Miss Emerald City and Miss Seattle's Teen competition coming soon.

Eligibility:

To become a participant for the next competition cycle for Miss Seattle, Miss Emerald City, or Miss Seattle's Teen you must meet all criteria as shown below:

  • For Miss Seattle & Miss Emerald City, be between the ages of 18-28, must be no OLDER than 28 by September 30, 2026 and no YOUNGER than 18 by September 1, 2026

  • For Miss Seattle's Teen, be between the ages of 14-18, must be no YOUNGER than 14 by September. 1, 2026 and no OLDER than 18 by September 30, 2026

  • Be a United States Citizen

  • Be a female

  • Single

  • No legal dependents

  • Meet residency requirements for competing - must either live, work, attend school full time, or be a dependent of a parent of guardian who resides in Washington state.

  • Meet availability requirements for the position of Miss Seattle, Miss Emerald City, or Miss Seattle's Teen.  Contestants outside of the Greater Seattle area understand and commit to the time and travel requirements of the job as a titleholder in the Greater Seattle area.

  • Be able to meet the time commitments and job responsibilities.

*Further rules may apply per MAO national contract and the Miss Seattle Scholarship Organization

  • Candidates who are competing for Miss Seattle must reside, work, attend school full time, or be a dependent of a parent or guardian who resides in King County, Snohomish County, Pierce County, or Kitsap County.​*

  • Candidates who are competing for Miss Emerald City must reside, work, attend school full time, or be a dependent of a parent or guardian who resides in Washington State.

  • Candidates who are competing for Miss Seattle's Teen must reside, work, attend school full time, or be a dependent of a parent or guardian who resides in the Western Half of Washington State.

*If the potential candidate resides outside of the above mentioned counties and the Miss Seattle competition is the next closest local competition, then the applicant may be considered on a case-by-case basis. Please contact the Miss Seattle organization if there are any eligibility questions.

About the Competition

Talent

The Talent portion of the competition provides the opportunity for each candidate to execute a skill or talent of their choosing. Each candidate receives 90 seconds to perform.

Private Interview

Each candidate is able to meet with a panel of five judges in a private interview sharing what she is doing to further her social impact initiative in her community. Judges are looking for a candidate's ability to communicate her accomplishments and express her beliefs.

On-Stage Question

Candidates will be asked a question in front of the panel of judges and the audience in the form of an On-Stage Question. judges will look for intelligence, personality, aptitude for the job, ability to communicate, stage presence, reliability, and the ability to build on the conversation from the personal interview.

Lifestyle and Fitness

Contestants will demonstrate what a healthy lifestyle means to them in an upbeat way. Judges are looking for confidence and stage presence in each young woman.

Evening Gown

This is the chance for each candidate to show off their sense of style with confidence and poise in a red carpet  inspired evening gown of her choosing.
