The Cox Family Memorial Scholarship for Diversity and Inclusion
Minimum $250 Scholarship
The Cox Family Memorial Scholarship is in the honor of Steven and Destiny Cox and their children Kaleah, Kaiden, and Jackson who tragically lost their lives in a house fire on January 21, 2023. The Cox family was a beautiful blended family who openly welcomed everyone into their lives and made them family and was family to Miss Seattle 2022, Sofia Da Silva. To honor their legacy of love and support, this scholarship is awarded each year to a selected contestant who represents diversity and inclusion through the Miss Seattle Scholarship Program.
General Requirements

Contestant must be a teen or miss candidate in the Miss Seattle Scholarship Competition.

Contestant must be a member of the LGBT community, a person of color / minority, or a member of any other marginalized group, including, but not limited to being raised in a single-family household, being from a low-income household, being a former foster child, having faced significant childhood trauma, or having a disability. Contestants who have an active role in supporting or advocating for any of the aforementioned groups may also be considered on a case by case basis.

Contestant must be an enrolled student or a graduate of a technical, college, or university program.
Scholarship Application

Complete the application form

Create a video or social media presentation about what diversity and inclusion means to the contestant and what the contestant intends to do to promote diversity and inclusion and effect change going forward.
Deadline

Completed application form and video submission must be received no later than one week, 5 business days, before the start of the competition.
Note: This award is selected by the family of Miss Seattle 2022. The competition judges will not see the applications and do not select the recipient.
